PART     I.  BASIC MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

I C  Engines :-  Petrol Engine and Diesel Engine

Pipe Fittings:-  Piping Materials, Pipe threads, fittings, specification

fittings, pipe joints

Pumps:-  Reciprocating pumps and centrifugal pumps

Bearings:- Use of bearings, types of bearings, frictional and antifriction

bearings

Fasteners:- Nuts, Bolts, Screws, Rivet and Riveted joints, Welding (arc

and gas), threads

Power transmission:-  Belts, gears, chains, pulleys, cam

Workshop Calculation and Science :  Determination of areas,

volumes, Simpson’s rules, Trigonometry, composition and resolution of

forces, conditions of equilibrium, simple stresses, strains, Hooks Law,

modulus of elasticity, calculation of centre of gravity, moment of

inertia, calculation of shear force and bending moment of different

beam with different loading conditions, work, power, energy

PART II.  BASIC CIVIL ENGINEERING
Building Materials:-  Stone, brick, cement, lime, sand, concrete, timber,
paints
Building Construction:- Foundation, brick masonry, stone masonry,
door, window, arches, stairs, roofs.
Estimation and costing:- Detailed estimate, rate analysis, earth work
calculation, specification.
Hydraulics and Irrigation:- Types of fluids, fluid pressure, absolute
pressure and gauge pressure, Bernoulli’s  equation, diversionstructures, reservoirs, cross drainages
Surveying:- Chain surveying, compass surveying, plane table
surveying, levelling 



Geometrical Drawing and Engineering Graphics:
Different drawing instruments, types of lines, dimensioning, types of
scales, methods of projection – orthographic, isometric, projection of
point, line, plane figures, solids, developments


PART III    – BASIC COMPUTER SCIENCE:
Fundamentals of  Computer, Elements of Computer, Introduction to
CAD, Elementary working in CAD.
